Privacy policy

Private by design.

LeafLocus is a local-first garden planner. It does not require a LeafLocus account, create an advertising profile, or send your garden to a LeafLocus-operated server.

Effective July 18, 2026

Summary

  • LeafLocus does not require an account.
  • LeafLocus does not include advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics.
  • Your gardens are stored on your device and, when sync is available, in your private iCloud database.
  • LeafLocus LLC cannot view the contents of your private iCloud database.

Garden data stored on your device

LeafLocus stores the information needed to create and display your plans. Depending on what you enter, this may include:

  • Garden names, plant inventories, custom plants, measurements, and notes.
  • A yard image that you select from Photos or Files.
  • Scale and north-orientation settings.
  • An optional U.S. ZIP code or manually entered latitude, longitude, and time zone used to calculate sun and shade.
  • Local app preferences and the App Store purchase state needed to determine feature access.

This information is used only to provide LeafLocus features. The app does not contain an advertising or behavioral-analytics SDK.

Private iCloud sync

While full app access is active, LeafLocus attempts to sync gardens, custom plants, yard images, and deletions through Apple's CloudKit service when an iCloud account is available. The records are stored in the user's private CloudKit database.

Apple states that private-database content belongs to the user, is available only to that user by default, and is not visible in the developer portal. Apple processes iCloud data under its own terms and privacy policy. If iCloud is unavailable, LeafLocus continues to use its on-device data.

Photos, files, and device permissions

LeafLocus uses Apple's system Photos and Files pickers. The app receives only the image you explicitly choose and copies that image into its own storage for your garden.

LeafLocus does not request ongoing access to your full photo library, camera, contacts, microphone, or device location. ZIP codes or coordinates are entered manually; the app does not read your live location. Background iCloud sync does not send visible notifications or request permission for alerts, sounds, or badges.

App Store purchases

Apple processes purchases through the App Store. LeafLocus uses StoreKit to read product, transaction, purchase-date, and entitlement status so it can start or restore access. The app does not receive your card number, bank details, or other payment credentials, and it does not send purchase records to a LeafLocus server.

This website

The LeafLocus website code does not set cookies, run analytics, or include advertising trackers. The hosting provider may process basic request information, such as IP address, browser details, and timestamps, to deliver and secure the site under the provider's own policies.

Retention and your choices

  • LeafLocus keeps local garden data so it remains available offline and after a trial expires.
  • Removing the app removes its local container subject to Apple's device-backup behavior; it may not remove an existing iCloud copy.
  • You can disable LeafLocus iCloud access and manage its stored iCloud data through your Apple device's iCloud settings.
